The 2005-2007 American Community Survey Three-Year Estimates

The American Community Survey (ACS), conducted by the U.S. Census Bureau, is a nationwide survey that collects information on the U.S. population every year. While annual information is the most current, small sample sizes make it difficult to obtain accurate data on smaller population groups such as Asian American subgroups, or for smaller geographical areas.

The three-year estimates are based on data collected in three consecutive years and have larger sample sizes than the one-year estimates. This is the first time that three-year estimates have been released from the ACS. Thus, more detailed and accurate data is now available for Asian Americans in Massachusetts. More detailed breakdowns should be available in 2010 with the five-year estimates.
